New arrival

This week a new horse arrived. Murphy is a stunning 8 years old horse, a bright bay gelding of about 17.2 hands. He really is lovely. He was due to be destroyed this week because he can no longer be ridden.Murphy was born with a twisted fetlock which has become arthritic, having a rider on his back and working simply aggravates the condition. It was decided to introduce him to Callie an elderly mare and Freddy Kruger, a chestnut gelding. They bonded quickly and are a tight little group now, always grazing close to one another. When I look at these beautiful animals and think how close they have been to having their lives prematurely brought to an end, I feel both sad and angry.Angry that people show such little respect for the lives of other species and sad that I cant save them all.

Hi Lesley.

Great to see that you are blogging at last. You have so much experience of animal rescue and running a succesful shelter that you need a way of sharing your knowledge and educating the public. Through education comes understanding. Through genuine understanding comes action. I suggest that you show people how they can help through gift aid, donations, volunteering and legacies. Keep up the good work. You are an amazing person and need all the help that you can get!

Hi Lesley, Found you at last. After visiting your shelter in Liverpool and knowing the work that has been done at Nazareth I think it is marvellous what you have achieved. Think of the thousands of animals you have saved ,you should be very proud of yourself. I admire what you are doing. Roy

Iam very pleased to see thatPaul Dalton has apologised for his remarks ,however I don't understand his reason for making them when surely the aim is to save these dogs whether it is through a kennels or a rescue charity. It is not a competition of who can home the most. Lesley is the last person to expect a pat on the back for what she does. She is in a very difficult position with people bringing in lost and unwanted dogs which she would like to take in. But due to the actions of a very awkward neighbour complaining, she is not allowed to, so she has to struggle to find temporary foster homes. . Lesley is doing a marvellous job and it appears to me that there is always someone ready to find fault. ROY
